If you happen to be in this area, take a break for a stroll through historic downtown Owatonna, Minnesota. Whether the places to eat or shop are old or new, this city is steeped in its rich history. While waiting for your pizza, there is a path where you can explore the area and take photos. If you drive to Shager Park, which is about 40 km away, you will enjoy a great view of the city and the river from the parking lot. From there, follow the Sakatah Trail to the south side to finish the round. If the 16 mile round trip doesn't suit you, go a little over half a mile back to Chippewa Lake Park and then drive south on the west side of Lake Superior to a stop at Shagers Park where we can hang out on the beach.
The Family History Centre is a resource that the public can use free of charge. Save is just two blocks from Sakatah Trail and you can rent a bike equipped with a helmet and bike lock if you wish.
The tour lasts about an hour and costs $6 per person and runs Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (there is a $7 pass). I would like to be here at 10: 00, but you can skip that if you know you have to be there, so I would skip it if I had to.
Grab a spot along the parade route on Saturday morning, snap some photos and sample the great food and music from the local bands and food trucks. Don't forget to go to the school basement at the weekend to play bingo, or watch it at the Minnesota State Fair in St. Paul on Sunday.
